How the system is installed

The engineered steps that turn a weathered roof into a continuous, watertight barrier — from surface preparation to gutters, flashings and details.

ACC Weathering Membrane is supplied and installed by qualified roofing and waterproofing contractors. This overview explains the standard process so you know what a proper installation involves.

Preparation is just as important as installation

  • Site safety & preparation

Trained, briefed personnel, a secured work zone, and the right PPE — harnesses, helmets, gloves and non-slip footwear.

  • Material inspection

Check each roll for damage such as tears, punctures or moisture. Store upright in a dry, shaded location until use.

  • Roof structure assessment

Confirm the structure is sound — no loose panels, rot or instability. Surface corrosion is treated during surface preparation.

  • Surface preparation

Clean the surface, remove dust, debris, oil, old adhesive or moss. Repair cracks and holes. Apply a primer or anti-corrosion paint on metal roofs and let it dry.

Installing on the roof surface

  • Lay direction

Install from the eaves/roof edge to the ridge, in either a vertical or horizontal direction.

  • Overlap

Ensure a minimum overlap of 100 mm for both lengthwise (end lap) and crosswise (side lap) joints, following the roof's contour.

  • Firm adhesion

Fix the membrane firmly against the roof, flush and free of air pockets or creases, for optimal adhesion and protection.

  • Seal the details

Seal all edges, joints and penetrations with the recommended ACC tapes to create a continuous, weather-tight barrier.

The details matter

Gutters, flashings, skylights, ventilators, ridges and pipe penetrations each get careful detailing with ACC extensible sealing tape and flashing membrane so the finished roof is a single continuous barrier — not a series of weak points.

Weather conditions

Installation is carried out only in dry weather to avoid trapping moisture under the membrane, and the forecast is monitored so the job isn't interrupted by sudden change.

Installation is a contractor's job

ACC Weathering Membrane is supplied to roofing and waterproofing contractors who install it to the manufacturer's guidelines. If you're looking for someone to install it, we'll point you to one.
